It is one of Petra Thalmeier's concerns to transform her inspiration from two-dimensional paintings into tactile, three-dimensional art objects.

"Table mountain sites" and stand-alone art objects are created following the artist's desire to express the feeling during flights above mountain ranges and to discover the influence of light and shadow, even indoors, on the ground. The stand-alone art objects can provide anyone with the opportunity to walk around a part of his own mountain range and discover fascinating details. The changing of light on those carved mountains creates shadows that create new ways for the eye to experience the relation of shapes. While walking around the sculptures, one can also see the relation of the shapes to each other changing, in a few moments. On his way the visitor is able to experience in seconds what the artist did on her own walks, which often lasted days.
