bavarian alps
the zugspitze, as the most striking form on the edge of the bavarian uplands, fascinated me from a very early age. often, when the foehn was blowing, i saw the attractive, rugged, glistening, form-rich confrontation behind the large expanses of water and the terminal moraine hills of upper bavaria: the alpine chain. i have already roamed through many alpine regions, but it is the constant observation of the landscape during the changing seasons, at different times of day and in different weather conditions that gives me the incentive to explore it in drawings and later in paintings.
the focus is on the werdenfelser land and berchtesgaden with the chiemgau region.
the movement around a mountain, the constant change of all forms in motion is the theme of wetterstein positionen. 15 picture panels show the wetterstein from various viewpoints, which i have hiked over the course of many tours.
my first associations with the allgäu are the endless variations of the green of the grassy mountains and the gently undulating alpine meadows in front of them. a landscape interspersed with a few dark forests, with deep ravines and: in the distance, the glistening, barren alpine chain. magically attractive forms are, of course, the hohe ifen, gottesackerkarst and the höfats.
