mountain sculptures

it is important to petra thalmeier to expand the two-dimensional possibilities of painting – to create works that can be experienced in three dimensions.
the mountain sculptures give everyone the opportunity to wander around the section of a very special mountain world and consciously perceive details. the changing incidence of light in the carved mountains produces shadow shapes that open up a new context of forms for the eye. the change of all the shapes in relation to each other in the movement of wandering around can now be observed in a few moments. this makes it possible to experience observations that the artist perceives during her days-long hikes at lightning speed, so to speak.
