false bay offers an unobstructed view over table mountain to the cape of good hope. almost every sunset in this often windswept region is unexpected and exciting. the series of clouds created since 2009 reflect a small canon of moods.

east of cape town, on the edge of false bay, lies the helderberg, a southern spur of the stellenbosch mountains. this manageable massif is an inexhaustible reservoir for painting and drawing throughout all seasons and times of the day. the helderberg, the clear mountain, encourages exploration, such as roaming the disa gorge or the stellenboschkloof (stellenbosch gorge) and the fynbos regions.

always fascinating: the views of the ever-changing main face of the hottentots-holland mountains as far as the somerset-sneeukop (snow head): the masses of cloud drifting over from the lebanon mountains cascade down over this barrier in endless cascades.
the drakensberg massif in the natal drakensberg park, east of lesotho, is criss-crossed by many hiking trails that lead to the giants castle massif as well as to numerous caves full of bushman murals.
